Dugas started playing the sport during his first year of high school with the Baie-Comeau Vikings. The player has been part of the team for the following three years, and then became a Mont-Jolie Mistral player. He is currently playing with the Chicoutimi Cougars, in the CEGEP Dvision 3 North-East Conference.

The athlete was selected to CEGEP Division 3 All-Star team in both 2015 and 2016.

The highlight of his 2015 season is the game the Cougars played against Rimouski.

“Defensively, we were really strong, and all the team managed to come out with the victory against one of the best team of the league on the road.” said Dugas.

His recruitment process is doing well. He has been approached by CIS schools, and had an official visit at the Sherbrooke University. For now, he is entirely focused on the upcoming season and his goal would be to win the Bol d’Or with his team.

“I will choose the university where I will be able to play and study in the program I want to. It is really important to me but for now, my priority is the next season.” admitted the defensive player.

In life, his influences are his parents. The athlete maintained they have been there to support him in everything he did throughout the years. He mentioned that they never missed a game, even with the distance.

Dugas’ football influence comes is Cougars coach Martin Gagnon.

“He taught me that if I want to be a winner, I must act and think like a player for every day of my life, even outside the field. He made me realise that only hard work pays.” added Dugas.

During the offseason, the defensive end’s training consists of working out in the gym four to five times a week, and having one or two sprint sessions and one yoga session weekly. During the summer, Dugas’s training involves going to the gym three times a week, and working on his footwork two times or three during his week.

For his 2016 season, Dugas really wants to pay attention to the details of the game, and hopes to be better on his technical side.

“I will try to come up with a better speed and a better explosion” said the player.

To get there, he will be focusing on these aspects during the summer and will also spend more time on the field than in the gym.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
