Denouden cradles the ball in the basket for a 1st down

Unlike most Kees Denouden didnā€™t start playing football until he came into his high school years. However, this has been a very successful 3 years of football for this young man. Awarded the MVP and Athlete of the Year in his rookie grade 10 year with the Centennial High School Coyotes, only gave Kees the drive to keep playing. In the high school, off seasons between grade 10 and 11 Kees went ahead and joined the Calgary Stampeders Midget football with the goal of furthering himself in his trade as a running back / slot back. Although his time with football may have be short compared to others, Kees did previously and continues to play rugby. PlayingĀ rugby since he was 5 years old has helped him know how to cradle the ball in his running back basket.

The schools Kees is currently considering is for post-secondary is quite substantial. This list contains University of British Columbia, University of Calgary, Queens University and Simon Fraser University. The chance to have these schools reach out is quite exhilarating and with the chats with some of these institutions it has proven to be a positive experience for Kees, ā€œItā€™s good to talk to other coaches and creating a network of contacts.ā€

With football being a main focus, Kees also has other goals he is currently working toward for his future also. Looking to major in Management and potentially taking some Theatre classes he has not only a performance on the field to look forward too, but maybe on the stage as well.

The strength behind most people are the ones who surround them, and in this case, it is no different. ā€œDefinitely my parents, they have supported me my entire life and have watched every game I have played whether in the heat or cold. They have really inspired me to push myself to becoming better and better every day.ā€

With the care and support behind Kees he has been able to provide a remarkable way to handle games with extreme pressure in a great confidence. ā€œMy highlight last season was beating Henry Wise Wood, and the privileged to play with our seniors.ā€ With both of these memorable moments showing the admiration Kees has of his teammates and the competitiveness of his nature.

In order to run through a defensive line of huge guys you have to have some commitment to the physical training. In the off season Kees works out every day and practices agility, speed, and catching skills. A lot of this training comes from the Canadian Football Academy in Calgary. And for this current season, Kees commits to the practices and a additional work out 2 ā€“ 3 times a week. With future academic goals in place his physical goals for this current season are within reason ā€œMainly focussing on lateral movements and more speed work to improve my speed.ā€

With the line of scrimmage or a scrimmaging moment, either of these can be applied to be successful in on the field in a successful running back / slot back position. Both of these Kees Denouden has to allow success in yards.
