Diablos MLB commits to Bishop’s

Gaiters bring in another QuΓ©bec commit to their Class of 2017.

Louis-FΓ©lix LΓ©pine, a middle linebacker from CΓ©gep de Trois-RiviΓ¨res, has just started his first semester at Bishop’s University and there is no doubt he is chomping at the bit to hit the field with the newly-moved AUS Gaiters in September.

Sherbrooke, QuΓ©bec may not be Trois-RiviΓ¨res, the long-time hometown of LΓ©pine but that doesn’t mean that it can’t become a home. β€œOn my first visit, I was very well received by the coaches and the players of this team,” he said. β€œIt made me feel like (I was) at home and already like a member of this team.”

LΓ©pine spent his cΓ©gep years playing with Les Diablos du CΓ©gep de Trois-RiviΓ¨res (RSEQ Division 2). In January, he entered the Sports Studies program at Bishop’s. Now that he is already on campus, he will have a bit more time to get to know his new coaches.

β€œI am very happy to play for Head Coach ChΓ©rif Nicolas. I like his football mentality, but also the way he prepares the players in the gym and at school. In defense, Coach Marc Lorenger is an excellent coach and is ready for everything for his players. It makes me feel confident for my next years,” LΓ©pine said.

Standing at 5’9, 215lbs, he won a Bol d’Or with l’AcadΓ©mie les Estacades in 2012. In the 2016 season, he recorded the most tackles for his team and was third in tackles in the RSEQ Collegiate Division 2. Showing his leadership side, LΓ©pine’s teammates voted him to be a team captain.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
