Dinos “big draw” for #CFC100 recruit

British Columbia ‘2014 AAA’ Championship MVP commits to CWUAA team

Jack McDonald is moving from the West Coast to the Prairies to embark on his CIS gridiron career.

Recently, the 6’1, 205 pound offensive standout from Tsawwassen, British Columbia signed with the Calgary Dinos.  The #CFC100 will join the team for the 2015 CWUAA season.

Ultimately, the chance to continue playing on offence while being reunited with his former teammate and best friend played a role in his decision.

“I chose to play at Calgary because I liked the teams winning tradition and saw lots of potential for the future,” explained McDonald of his decision.  “I also liked how I would have an opportunity to continue playing offense there as I received scholarships as a linebacker at half of the schools.”

“Continuing to be able to play with one of my best friends (Blake Gau) from high school was also a big draw for me.”

McDonald, who has played at the slot receiver, running back and linebacker positions, guided the South Delta Sun Devils of the British Columbia High School Football Association (BCHSFA) to the Provincial ‘AAA’ Championship this past fall. The #CFC100 was named Championship Game MVP.

The standout led the team in touchdowns (eight), kick return yards, kick return touchdowns and tackles.

Among the honours he’s received during his gridiron career include Conference Defence MVP (2014), Provincial MVP (2014), Sun Devils Defensive Player MVP (2014), Conference Offence MVP (2013), Provincial MVP (2013) and Sun Devils MVP (2013).

McDonald was ranked for the first time on the final edition of the #CFC100  He becomes the fourth to join the Dinos.  Running back Seye Farinu, offensive lineman Brendan Barnes and quarterback Alex Basilis are the others.
