Dinos mourn football lineman Lamola

CALGARY – On Wednesday evening, the University of Calgary lost a bright, dedicated student-athlete from its campus community with the passing of Daniel Lamola.

The Dinos and the university community are saddened by this tragic news, and extend our deepest condolences and sympathies to Daniel’s family and his many friends and teammates.

Daniel, 19, was a second-year student in our Faculty of Arts, and a defensive lineman on last year’s Canada West-champion Dinos football squad.

Before attending the University of Calgary, he was a graduate of Calgary’s Notre Dame High School.

Counseling services through the Health and Wellness Centre have been made available for Daniel’s teammates and coaches in the Dinos program, while confidential support can be accessed on-campus at the Health and Wellness Centre by any member of the university community.

The Dinos and the university are a tight-knit community and will support one another through this difficult time.

Our thoughts remain with Daniel’s family and friends.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
