Bishop’s brings in another QuΓ©bec commit to their Class of 2017.
There is an enduring spirit within the Bishopβs Gaiters and Remi Desbiens, a defensive tackle from CΓ©gep de Sherbrooke, is ready to help the team win.
βEven if they didnβt have a lot of success in the past years, the coaching staff and the players worked hard to bring back victory to Bishopβs,β Desbiens said. βThe coaching staff and players are hardworking men.β
With the arrival of Cherif Nicolas as head coach and Pat Boies as the new offensive coordinator, Desbiens is nothing but confident in the future of the team. βI know (they) will bring a new energy to the team,β he said.
He added that, βAs coordinator of the defense, Marc Loranger is an excellent asset for the team. He is determined and passionate (about) the game and the team. We have a solid coaching staff.β
While attending Bishopβs, Desbiens is hoping to pursue a degree in Business Marketing. He said he chose Bishopβs because of their Business program: βItβs one of the best and it appealed to me.β
Standing at 5β10, 245lbs, he played two years as an offensive lineman, but he will be sticking to the defense side of things with the Gaiters. The nine-year veteran played high school ball with Les Summum de Coaticook (RSEQ) in his hometown of Coaticook, QuΓ©bec. He then joined Les Volontaires du CΓ©gep de Sherbrooke (RSEQ Division 1) for three years. The past two seasons, he was recognized by Les Volontaires for his impact within the community.
He will also be looking to have an impact with the Gaiters in the new U Sports season. He said, βIβm very proud to be part of the new Gaitersβ era.β
