Email we sent to University of Waterloo regarding suspending the program

I was asked to write an email to you on behalf of some of the current Waterloo football players.

The players want to make sure that the following factors have been taken into consideration:

a) decades of tradition, decades of positive community influence, decades of success on and off the field
b) 100’s of 1000’s of clean football players in the waterloo program over the years
c) 10 000’s – 100 000’s of volunteer hours put into the program
d) 53 current players that did right
e) 100 000s of alumni and sponsorship dollars over the years

The players and the public do not know if the university has set a precedent in other areas of the school. Has the same decisions been made when students are caught cheating in chemistry or engineering or other programs? Has the school taken the same stand and suspended or cut those programs?

Nine players were caught taking performance enhancing drugs. This is 9 players too many. What the community does not understand is why the decisions of 9 players, and the reaction to those 9 players, is having such an impact on current, former, and future warrior players, supporters, fans, and students.

We will be happy to publish your response on our website, the number one amateur football website in Canada, www.canadafootballchat.com. We will publish this email on our website.
