Canadian Football League Communications Officer – 100th Grey Cup

Position Summary:
The Canadian Football League requires a hard working, passionate, detail-oriented individual for an exciting opportunity to work on an once-in-a-lifetime event: the 100th Grey Cup. In this position, you will provide assistance to the Communications and Marketing teams to support the execution of the 100th Grey Cup and the events and projects that will support this national celebration. This position requires travel for 10 weeks from September through the end of November 2012. This will also require some weekend and evening work. This is a one-year contract position.

Key Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

β€’ Promotion of the 100th Grey Cup and surrounding events through earned and social media
β€’ Manages and maintains media contact list for the 100th Grey Cup events
β€’ Prepare Digital Media communication kits for 100th Grey Cup events
β€’ Prepare Community awareness kits for the National tour.
β€’ Assist in the operational & logistical planning for media events for the 100th Grey Cup celebrations
β€’ Assist with Government and VIP relations
β€’ Manage the coordination of League and Team staff for 100th Grey Cup events
β€’ Media relations lead for 100th Grey Cup events
β€’ Liaison with fans for 100th Grey Cup inquiries
β€’ Assists in writing media materials and content
β€’ Execution of sponsorship communications activations for the 100th Grey Cup.

Qualifications & Skills:
β€’ Strong communication skills, both written and verbal;
β€’ Effective time manager with the ability to work on a large number of detail-oriented projects simultaneously;
β€’ Previous communications / journalism experience required;
β€’ Promotional public relations experience an asset
β€’ Bilingualism \an asset
β€’ Strong initiative and self-starter
β€’ Ability to work independently and troubleshoot
