Essex Ravens Joe Mlinaric to speak on “Defending the spread offense” at FCCA Convention (April 2 & 3)


The newly formed Football Canada Coaches Association (FCCA) is pleased to announce current Essex Ravens OVFL (Windsor, ON) defensive coordinator Joe Mlinaric as a speaker at the 2011 FCCA CONVENTION being held April 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] and 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] in Burlington, Ontario at Corpus Christi High School.

Joe is a graduate of F.J. Brennan High School and studied Business at the University of Windsor. After high school Joe played 2 seasons with the AKO Fratmen of the CJFL and played in the 1990 CJFL Championship “The Canadian Bowl”. A knee injury forced him to the sidelines which lead him to coaching. His coaching career started at St. Anne’s High School and included stints at Holy Names and Villanova. Joe has also been involved with Windsor Minor Football as a coach and as a member of the board of directors for many years. Complete Bio below:

Joe is a graduate of F.J. Brennan High School and studied Business at the University of Windsor. After high school Joe played 2 seasons with the AKO Fratmen of the CJFL and played in the 1990 CJFL Championship “The Canadian Bowl”. A knee injury forced him to the sidelines which lead him to coaching. His coaching career started at St. Anne’s High School and included stints at Holy Names and Villanova. Joe has also been involved with Windsor Minor Football as a coach and as a member of the board of directors for many years. In 2000 Joe began his coaching career with the Essex Ravens as Defensive Coordinator of the first year Junior Varsity team and Defensive Line coach with the Varsity team. In 2002 he took over the reigns as the JV Head Coach and guided the Ravens to 2 straight Adam Conference Championship games while earning OVFL Coach of the year honours in 2003. In 2004 Joe took over as the Defensive Coordinator of the Varsity Ravens and has guided the Defense ever since. In that time Ravens defences have set numerous league records including most sacks in a game (12), most sacks in a season (44) and most interceptions in a season (22). Since 2002 the Varsity Ravens have appeared in 4 OVFL Championship games (02, 04, 07 and 10) while winning the Championship in 2002 and 2010. Notable players coached include LB Andrew Brown (Lafayette), DB Steve Fantetti (Michigan Tech), DT Brian Bulcke (Stanford) and DT Mike Atkinson (Boise State).
