Express atoms & peewees battle etobicoke

The Express Atoms played their third game in a row on the road Saturday lining up for the second time with the Etobicoke Eagles. Looking to put the new look offense to use quarterback Ethan Bullivant connected with receiver Cameron Main for a 37 yard major while both teams traded big plays.

Cameron Main took an Eagle punt to the house, slipping by tacklers and picking up some big blocks from Westin Bristow and Will Good to bring TNT within 12 points to start the fourth. Running back Jared Salter ignited the traveling TNT fan base with a 60 yard scamper to push the Express dangerously close to the teams first win, down 20-18. TNT’s defense led by an injured Brady Fidler, Seth Hall, Cooper Hamilton and Brian Escott held the Eagles to a 3rd and long with under a minute to go. Nicholas Hunter and Brian Escott made a huge stop on 4th down, but a flag against TNT gave the Eagles the escape they were looking for and they ran out the clock. “I can speak for all of us” said head coach Adam Ross at the end of the game. “Regardless of what the scoreboard says our kids won today. They played to the end and have turned the corner”.

TNT PEEWEES BATTLE ETOBICOKE EAGLES

The peewee team travelled to Centennial Stadium for a tilt with the Eagles on Saturday. The young Express continue to show improvement and played hard all game long despite being well behind all game long. QB Riley Norcross played his usual smart game and tossed in some great work on defence as well. Lance Warwick and Liam Kelly split the duties at tailback with some good hard running and first year player Joe Dā€™amico had his first carry of the season for a nifty 8 yard gain. Jason Uprichard was selected as the honorary captain of the game for his performance both on offence and defence in addition to taking care of the punting chores. Raphael Gagne continues to show improvement as a cornerback and Neil Hall was very good from his defensive tackle spot. Jake Bonsi has settled in as the starting centre and Adam Kinsella and Callahan Boudreau get better every week.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
