University Football
The dream of returning to the Canada West playoffs in Shawn Olson’s inaugural season as the team’s new head coach is over. The Thunderbirds (2-5) dropped a 30-9 decision to the Saskatchewan Huskies last Friday and the loss, combined with the Manitoba Bisons’ loss to the Alberta Golden Bears last Saturday, means the T-Birds are mathematically eliminated from playoff contention.
The T-Birds will close out their 2010 season this Saturday, October 30 when they visit the Bisons in Winnipeg. Kickoff is at 11:00 am PT. The game can be seen live on Shaw TV.

Freshman quarterback Greg Bowcott (Abbotsford, BC) had a spectacular collegiate debut for the SFU Clan last Saturday against Dixie State and earned the GNAC Offensive Player of the Week honors for his efforts but that wasn’t enough for the Clan as they fell 18-15 and saw their overall record on the season drop to 1-6 (0-4 in conference play).
The Clan are back home this Saturday, October 30 when they host Humboldt State at Fox Field in their regular season home finale. Kickoff is at 3:00 pm PT.
