Football BC: Must watch games of the weekend (Nov. 19-21)

The playoff picture on the road to the BC Community Football Association 12-man provincial championships will get a little bit more clearer this weekend as the playoffs progress while in BC High School Football Action, it’s quarterfinal week. Here’s a list of what you can’t miss this weekend in local football action.

Vancouver Mainland Football League

The playoffs continue this week in the VMFL as every division is now into elimination mode. This week’s playoff schedule includes VMFL Semi-Final action in the Atom, Pee Wee and Bantam Divisions, respectively, as well as a full slate of quarter-final games in the Midget Division.
The game of the week, however, comes from the Jr. Bantam Division which will be holding their league final this Sunday, November 21 when the third-seeded Langley Outlaws visit Kevin Chin Field at Mackin Park to face off against the first-seeded Coquitlam Raiders. The winner will be crowned the VMFL Jr. Bantam champion and go on to face a team from the Vancouver Island Canadian Football Association next Sunday, November 28 for a spot in the BC Community 12-man provincial championships to take place on December 5 at Langley’s McLeod Stadium.

Valley Community Football League

The champions of the VCFL will be crowned in all divisions this Saturday, November 20 at Townsend Park in Chilliwack.
The action gets underway at 10:00 am with the Atom Division final between Abbotsford and Meadow Ridge Blue. The winner of this contest will advance all the way to the BC Community 12-man provincial championships on December 5.
At noon, it’s the Pee Wee final between Abbotsford and Chilliwack Blue. The winner will go on to face the SIFC champions for a spot in the provincial championship.
At 2:00 pm, it’s the Junior Bantam final between Abbotsford and Chilliwack Red. The winner will face the SIFC champions for a spot in the provincial championship.
And finally, at 4:00 pm, it’s the Bantam final between Chilliwack and Abby-Mission. The winner of this contest will advance all the way to the provincial championships on December 5.

Southern Interior Football Conference

League champions in the Pee Wee Division and Junior Bantam Division will be determined this Sunday, November 21 at the Capital News Centre Turf Field in Kelowna.
At noon, the Kelowna Lions will tangle with the West Kelowna Sundevils in Pee Wee action with the winner going on to face the VCFL champions next week for a berth in the provincial championships.
At 2:00 pm, the Junior Bantam final goes with the Kelowna Lions taking on the Kelowna Dragons. The winner will go on to face the VCFL champions for a spot in the provincial championships.

BC High School Football (Sr. AA Varsity and Sr. AAA Varsity divisions)

The quarterfinal round gets underway in BC High School Football this weekend with a full slate of games scheduled for Friday, November 19 and Saturday, November 20 at Thunderbird Stadium.
The first game on Friday gets underway at 3:00 pm with South Delta facing Handsworth followed by Windsor facing Sands at 5:30 pm. Both games are AA Division contests. At 8:00 pm, Vancouver College will tangle with St. Thomas More in AAA Division action.
Saturday will also see a tripleheader of games at Thunderbird Stadium starting at 3:00 pm with an AA Division clash between Mission and Seaquam. Following that tilt, there will be two AAA Division games to close out the night with Terry Fox facing Notre Dame at 5:30 pm followed by WJ Mouat taking on Carson Graham at 8:00 pm.
Tickets for games at Thunderbird Stadium are available at the gate starting at just $10.
Playoff games taking place outside of Thunderbird Stadium are as follows:
On Friday, John Barsby faces Pitt Meadows in Ladysmith at 1:00 pm in AA Division action. On Saturday, Kelowna faces Centennial at the Capital Hill Stadium in Kelowna at 4:30 pm in AAA Division action.
