SASKATCHEWAN WINS U19 GOLD

Saskatoon, SK — The home province team put in a golden performance to finished off the Football Canada Cup 2009. Jake McGeough passed for 178 yards including a touchdown to Lane Bannerman and then rushed for another as Saskatchewan beat Alberta 17-4 to claim the gold medal in the U19 division. Alberta QB Adam Senuik had an impressive 216 yards passing but they were unable to put the ball in the endzone.

This is the first gold medal for Saskatchewan in Football Canada Cup competition. The U19 tournament’s offensive MVP was Felix Faubert-Lussier of Quebec. The tournament’s defensive MVP was Saskatchewan’s Seamus Neary.

ONTARIO (EAST) WINS U17 GOLD

July 10, 2009.
Saskatoon, SK — Ontario East claimed the gold medal in the U17 division of the Football Canada Cup 2009. They racked up a 21 point lead at the half and coasted to a 42-7 victory over Alberta South. It was an outstanding game for Ontario quarterback Dallon Kruprowski who threw for 186 yards and two touchdowns plus rushed for 113 yards and scored another two touchdowns on the ground. Alberta South saw their only points on a one yard touchdown plunge from quarterback Cody Dickinson.
