Football Canada Cup QBs: Meet Team Manitoba’s Nikkel, Buckland, & Moore (video)

As part of its extensive Football Canada Cup coverage CFC will be profiling the “Quarterbacks of the Football Canada Cup”. The Football Canada Cup takes place July 9 to 16th in Lethbridge, Alberta. The teams competing in the Under-18 format include British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario-West, Ontario-East, Quebec & Nova Scotia. Today we profile the Quarterbacks from Team Manitoba:


Chas Moore (Sturgeon Heights Huskies)

Class 2013

Chas has been playing quarterback for 8 years and his quarterback coach at Sturgeon Heights is Brett Watt.

When asked about this years Football Canada Cup Chas had this to say. “I thing its going to be a great learning experience and get me that much of a higher level for when the regular season comes. I am pretty exited to see the competition.”


Lyall Buckland (Dakota Lancers)

Class 2012

Lyall has been playing quarterback for seven years, starting with the St. Vital Mustangs. He now plays for the Dakota Lancers, his high school team. His quarterback coach/offensive coordinator is coach Christian Csatari at high school and coach Aaron Giesbrecht is the Offensive coordinator/Quarterback coach for the provincial team.

When asked about this years Football Canada Cup Lyall had this to say. “I am really looking forward to the opportunity to compete at the Football Canada cup.”


Matthew Nikkel (St Vital Mustang)

Class 2012

Matthew has been playing quarterback for all 9 years of his football career and currently plays for the St. Vital Mustangs.

His quarterback coach for his club team is Derek Mills.

When asked about this years Football Canada Cup Matthew had this to say. “I’m looking forward to representing my province and having the opportunity to compete against the best players in Canada.”
