FOOTBALL CHEETAHS ROUT NOMADES MARCHAND WRIGHT IS DYNAMITE WITH TWO TOUCHDOWNS

KAYIN MARCHAND WRIGHT RETURNED TWO INTERCEPTIONS FOR TOUCHDOWNS AS THE VANIER CHEETAHS IMPROVED TO 3-1 ON THE SEASON WITH AN IMPRESSIVE 34-7 HOME TRIUMPH OVER THE MONTMORENCY NOMADES THIS PAST SATURDAY AT THE CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY FOOTBALL FIELD.

The Cheetahs opened the scoring at the 8:26 mark of the first quarter when Jesse Lacle crossed the goal line on a 4-yard run and kicker Josh MacDuffie connected on his first of four converts on the day.
The visitors knotted the score briefly at 7-7 late in the second frame before MacDuffie booted a 27-yard field goal with only 11 ticks left on the clock to give Vanier a 10-7 advantage heading into half-time.
The home team tallied 24 unanswered points in the second half to secure their third win of the 2010 campaign. Kayin Marchand Wright (seen at right) recorded his first major score of the game on an electrifying 100-yard interception return and MacDuffie added the extra point at 12:22 of the third quarter to give the Cheetahs a commanding 17-7 advantage.
Vanier blew the game open in the fourth quarter as Mathew Norzil hauled in a 29-yard pass from quarterback Jérémi Roch for a touchdown with only 3:16 gone in the frame. The Cheetahs added some late points as MacDuffie kicked a 38-yard field goal and Marchand Wright returned another pick, this one good for 60 yards and his second touchdown.

The Cheetahs were led on the offense by quarterback Jérémi Roch (left) who completed 20 of 34 pass attempts for 268 yards. Jesse Lacle paced the running attack with 38 yards on 13 carries while Alex Vilera rushed for 37 yards on 3 attempts. Vincent Cléroux topped all Vanier receivers with 5 catches for 71 yards. Matthew Norzil also had a big game with 4 receptions for 86 yards.
Byron Perez-Archambault anchored a stellar defensive effort with 16 tackles, including a QB sack, while Marchand Wright added 3 tackles to his impressive game resume.
The Cheetahs next play this Saturday as they face the Cougars (2-2-0) in Lennoxville. Kick-off is at 1:00 p.m.
