Football Nova Scotia announces under-18 provincial team staff

Football Nova Scotia is pleased to announce its coaching staff for the provincial under-18 team that will participate in the 2012 Canada Football Cup at Western University in London, Ontario this summer.


The head coach of the team will be Pierre Lefebvre, who is currently the high performance director for Football Nova Scotia. He has coached in the provincial ranks for the past ten years. Moreover, Lefebvre is the special teams and recruiting coordinator for the Saint Mary’s University (SMU) Huskies football team in Halifax.

With over 35 years of coaching experience (30 years in the CIS) Lefebvre also had a successful football playing career in the Atlantic University Sport (AUS) league as an all-star defensive back in the early seventies. Being successful in the coaching ranks, Lefebvre has won two Vanier Cup championships. He also was the recipient of the Gino Fracas award and is NCCP Level 3 certified.

Offensive coordinator of the under-18 team is Matt Berry, who currently is the defensive assistant/assistant coach for the University of Calgary DInos football team. Berry has instructed in the high school ranks for the Charles P Allen Cheetahs and the Dartmouth High Spartans of the Nova Scotia Student Athletic Federation Football League (NSSAFFL). He comes with provincial playing experience as he suited up for Nova Scotia from 1998-2000 and also played CIS football for the University of Ottawa Gee Gees. Berry is NCCP Level 3 technical trained.

Defensive coordinator of the provincial team will be Peter Fraser, who’s currently the offensive line and special teams coordinator of the Acadia Axemen. Originally from Oromocto, New Brunswick, Fraser had a successful playing career with John Abbott and the University of Ottawa Gee Gees. Previous coaching stints on Fraser’s resume include being special teams coordinator for the McGill Redmen, head coach of the Ottawa Jr Riders and head coach of the East Ottawa Generals.

The under-18 roster of 50 players will be announced in two weeks.
