Forfeit costly for Shockers

MFL: Β Another forfeit, Wanderers lock up first

After a much-needed long weekend in the Maritime Football League, all four teams were supposed to be back in action this past weekend.

Unfortunately, only three showed up.

The Halifax Shockers were unable to field a team. Β As a result, the Shockers were forced to forfeit their game against the Saint John Wanderers.

The forfeit catapulted the Wanderers into sole possession of first place, thus giving the team home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

In the other game this past weekend, PEI Privateers defeated Capital City Gladiators 35-8.

Quarterback Chris Mutch was at it again as he completed multiple passes to different receivers and the Privateers continued to spread the ball around.

The Privateers offence have been rolling the past few weeks, just in time for the playoffs.

With one week left in the season, the Privateers will travel to Halifax to play the Shockers this Saturday at 4:00 pm.

The Capital City Gladiators will host the Moncton Mustangs Friday at 8:00 pm.

The Wanderers have locked up first place, therefore, the road the Maritime Football League championship will go through Saint John.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
