Former Acadia football player charged with multiple counts of drug trafficking

Last week, the RCMP arrested Ottawa native, Daniel Obiang, a running back in his second year with the Acadia Axemen.

According to Global News, Obiang is “facing charges of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking”.

Spokesperson for the Acadia, Scott Roberts, commented that Obiang had not been a member of the Axemen football program for much of the season and was only listed on the active roster for three games this season, his last on Oct. 7, according to the Chronicle Herald.

A Canada Prep product, Obiang was listed as a 2016 CFC100 and committed to Acadia University for the class of 2016.
