Former CFL head coach named Queen’s offensive coordinator

KINGSTON, Ont. – Queen’s football head coach Pat Sheahan is pleased to announce the addition of former Canadian Football League (CFL) head coach Marcel Bellefeuille to the Gaels coaching staff as the offensive coordinator.

Bellefeuille has had an extensive coaching career in the CFL having been the head coach with Hamilton and worked in offensive roles with Saskatchewan, Montreal, Winnipeg and most recently the B.C. Lions. He has also held positions in London, England (NFL/Budweiser) and the United Football League (Omaha Nighthawks) and has a wealth of experience coaching all position groups on the offensive side of the football.   U SPORTS football is also familiar territory for Bellefeuille as he was the head coach of the Ottawa Gee-Gees where he was named Ontario-Quebec Intercollegiate Football Conference coach of the year in 1999 and led the Gee-Gees to a Vanier Cup title in 2000. Since 2011 he has also run Coach MB, a professional coaching and consulting business that focuses on performance appraisals, training, and workshops that focus on growth and productivity.

“I am looking forward to joining Coach Sheahan and the Queen’s football program for the 2018 season. It is an honour to be part of such a rich tradition of both academia and football history,” said Marcel Bellefeuille.

Sheahan and the entire staff welcome the addition of a veteran and accomplished football mind to join the ranks at Queen’s.

“We are excited to add such an experienced and quality leader in Marcel to the Queen’s football family,” said head coach Pat Sheahan. “He brings a wealth of offensive experience from the CFL as both a head coach and assistant and his vision and football IQ will be a great benefit to our student-athletes.”
