Four more commit to Rams for 2015 (VIDEO)

REGINA, Sask. – University of Regina Rams head coach Mike Gibson announced Friday that the Rams have received commitments from defensive tackle Joshua Brown, offensive lineman Braydon Johnson, defensive back Polis Koko, and receiver Adam Rask for the 2015 season.
Polis Koko (Regina, Sask. / Dr. Martin LeBoldus HS) signed a CIS Letter of Intent in late February to commit to the Rams, becoming the second LeBoldus player and third Regina product in the 2015 recruiting class. Koko won 4A provincial championships with the Golden Suns three consecutive years, claiming titles in 2012, 2013, and again in 2014. He was named a Schwann Conference all-star at defensive back following his Grade 12 season.
“I really like Polis’s ability to tackle and after talking to (defensive coordinator) Paul Dawson, I think we’re going to give him a look at safety,” Gibson said. “He can cover a lot of ground and he’s got good ball skills, and we’ll find a home for him because you can never have too many athletes on the defensive side of the ball.”
Joshua Brown (Toronto, Ont. / Langley Rams) recently signed with the Rams to become the third defensive lineman in the class, joining LeBoldus’s Matthew Moore and Texas product Ajai Washington. Brown was a conference all-star in 2012 with the Pickering Dolphins (OVFL), and moved out to the West Coast to play for the Langley Rams (BCFC) in 2013.
“Josh is a big young man who we’re really excited about having,” Gibson said. “We think he can come in and get on the football field real fast for us. For his size, he really moves well and has some power to him. He plays the game the way we like it to be played – fast and physical. Josh will be a guy you’ll notice in the lineup very quickly.”
Braydon Johnson (Moose Jaw, Sask. / Central Collegiate) played for Team Saskatchewan at two Football Canada Cups, representing his province in both 2012 and 2013. The offensive lineman was highly touted coming out of high school.
“Braydon was recruited by the previous staff and is a guy who could play at guard or tackle, but we’ll look at him as a tackle first,” Gibson said. “He’s got good length about him with good, long arms and plays the game at a high speed.”
Adam Rask (Cochrane, Alta. / Cochrane HS) was a two-time Alberta Bowl Tier III champion, winning provincial titles in both 2012 and 2014. He is a teammate of current Rams Bryce McKinnon and Kyle Moortgat with the Cobras.
“Adam is another good, young receiver out of Alberta for us,” Gibson said. “His high school coach had one great thing to say about him – that he’s a gamer. Any time a coach says that about a player, I think you take your chance and look at him. He’s got good size, good ball skills, and runs really well. I’m excited to see him play.”
The four commits brings the Rams’ recruiting class up to eight players. The team is expected to announce more recruits leading up to spring camp, which will be held in late April.
