Four on top of OFC standings

After five weeks of play there are four teams (Burlington, St Leonard, Ottawa & Hamilton) with 3-1 records atop of the OFC standings.

The Burlington Braves entered their bye week at 3-1. The St Leonard Cougars defeated the Ottawa Sooners at home and the Hamilton Hurricanes won on the road at the Windsor AKO Fratmen.

The Sooners’ perfect record fell as they lost 16-12 in St Leonard and also gave up the tiebreaker to the Cougars. Ottawa won the first game at home 25-23.

In a defensive battle in Windsor the Hurricanes outlasted the Fratmen 12-10.

The London Beefeaters entered the win column with a 28-13 victory over the first year Brampton Bears.

Windsor and London now have 1-3 records while the Bears fall to 0-4.

In a rare Friday night (September 10th) affair the Hurricanes will travel to TD Waterhouse Stadium in London for a 7:30 pm kick off with the Beefeaters.

Saturday afternoon in a matchup of two of those 3-1 teams, the Ottawa Sooners entertain the Burlington Braves at Keith Harris Stadium at 3:00 pm.

Later the Brampton Bears host the St Leonard Cougars at St Marcellinus Secondary School in Mississauga at 7:00 pm.

In the only other Canadian Junior Football League game scheduled this weekend the Winnipeg Rifles completed the sweep of the Edmonton Huskies with a 21-15 victory at Clarke Park in Edmonton Sunday afternoon.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
