Gabriel Bigras started playing football during the summer of 2015.

He played as a defensive end and as corner for the bantam North Bay Bulldogs in the Ontario Minor Football League (OMFL).

He then moved on to high school football with the Franco-Cite Patriotes in Nipissing District Athletics (NDA), where he played as defensive end and linebacker.

This past summer, Gabriel played with the Junior Bulldogs as a free safety.

Moreover, this high school season the Patriote became on of the captains, and played as both corner and linebacker.

“My goal for the Ontario Prospect Challenge (OPC) is most definitely to make the central team,” said Gabriel. “I am also very excited about the extra training that would come along with that.”

Gabriel also would like to see himself on the #CFC100 list.

“I would like to move on to play college football and I feel that being listed as the top 100 would definitely help me in reaching that goal,” commented Gabriel.

During his offseason, the Patriote trains with weights five days a week.

He also participates in winter trainings offered by both his high school and the Bulldogs.

In terms of a role model, there is no particular player the Patriote looks up to, because he admires all of them.

“I know how much work goes into making it that far and I admire them for sticking to it,” added Gabriel.

Very quickly, football has become his favourite sport because he loves the physical aspect of preventing someone from getting past him by tackling them.

“I also really like the thought that needs to go into it for reading and anticipating the opponents,” continued Gabriel.
