Fox 40 Prospect Challenge (Central): DE McGillis hoping for U Sports future

Evan McGillis started his football career with four years in the Burlington Minor Football League (BMFL).

He then played for the Nelson Jr. Lords in the Halton Secondary School Athletic Association (HSSAA) for two years before joining the senior Lords this past fall season.

The defensive end also played in the Ontario Football Conference (OFC) with the junior varsity Burlington Stampeders in their summer program.

Evan is also participating in this yearā€™s Fox 40 Prospect Challenge ā€œto gain additional experience and a possible future in CIS.ā€

The 2018 graduate is also hoping to find his name on the CFC100 list.

During the offseason, the Stampeder takes part in the Super Elite Football Camp and does CrossFit three to four times a week.

On the field, his idol is Ray Lewis because of his intensity, his desire to win, his commitment to his team and the way he gives back to his community through youth programs.

ā€œI love the physical aspects and the mental challenges of the game,ā€ explained Evan, ā€œand the teamwork involved in reaching common goals.ā€
