Fox 40 Prospect Challenge (Central): REC/DB rookie quickly becoming someone to watch

Talik Bah Dessureault only has one year of football under his belt, it is not stopping him from becoming a player to keep an eye on.

The wide receiver/defensive back played in the National Capital Secondary School Athletic Association (NCSSAA) with the St. Matthew Tigers, where they won the OFSAA championship.

โ€œI was fortunate to play with a great coach and talented players who taught me so much,โ€ said Talik. โ€œThey helped me develop and improve my speed and agility.โ€

The Tiger is also participating in this yearโ€™s Fox 40 Prospect Challenge and has a few goals in mind. He wants to play his best with the best players and, get to know players and coaches better.

โ€œIโ€™m anxious to learn new skills from coaches,โ€ explained Talik. โ€œI want to learn everything I can fast and keep improving in this exciting sport.โ€

โ€œI was very happy to make the East team in my first year playing, so I want to show that I belong here,โ€ added the Tiger.

During the offseason, Talik plays soccer and baseball, as well as doing cycling and training. He also currently plays with a soccer academy in Ottawa as a striker.

On the field, his role model is Julio Jones because he is such an exciting, agile and fast receiver. โ€œHe can catch any pass,โ€ added Talik.

The wide receiver/defensive back loves football because the friendships and team spirit is unique and enjoyable.

โ€œEveryone supports each other,โ€ commented Talik. โ€œThe coaches are great and they encourage us and want us to succeed.โ€

โ€œEven though itโ€™s a rough game, itโ€™s really all about positioning, speed and focus.โ€
