OTTAWA (CIS) ā€“ To no oneā€™s surprise, the Laval Rouge et Or (2-0) stay on top of the FRC-CIS Football Top 10 poll for the third consecutive week after a 24-14 win over Montreal (1-1) in front of 16,046 in Quebec City. Despite the setback, Montreal remains at No. 6 in the rankings.

For the first time this season however, the reigning Vanier Cup champion Rouge et Or didnā€™t sweep the first-place votes as two nods went to the second-ranked Western Ontario Mustangs (2-0) after their 48-21 thrashing of McMaster in Hamilton in front of 5,563 at Ron Joyce Stadium.

McMaster (1-1) paid the price for its home opening loss, slipping four spots in the poll to No. 7.

The two remaining undefeated teams in the Canada West conference both move up a notch after improving to 2-0 in league play.

For the second straight week, the No. 3 Calgary Dinos marched on their final drive for a come-from-behind victory, this time 30-25 over UBC. The Thunderbirds (1-1), who entered the contest at No. 10, drop out of the Top 10 this week.

Meanwhile in Saskatoon, the No. 4 Saskatchewan Huskies celebrated their 100th anniversary in style, setting a regular season attendance record of 7,370. The overcapacity crowd went home happy as the Huskies won the battle of Saskatchewan 33-10 over the Regina Rams (0-2).

Rounding out this weekā€™s top five are the Sherbrooke Vert & Or (2-0), who continued their steady move up the charts thanks to a 39-13 win over McGill (0-2) at Percival Molson Stadium. The ā€œFoxesā€, who reached the Quebec final for the first time in team history in 2010, were ranked seventh last Tuesday.

The top-ranked team in the AUS, the Saint Maryā€™s Huskies (1-0), moves up one spot to eighth after opening league play with a convincing 54-14 win over Mount Allison.

The two new arrivals in the FRC-CIS Top 10 are in the final two spots. Voters could not ignore the Ottawa Gee Geesā€™ 2-0 record, while the Windsor Lancers (2-0) were rewarded for their stunning 41-40 upset of Laurier, which was decided on a return punt single.
