CEGEP star Soucy looking for CIS options, but hoping that teams south of the border begin wooing him.

Vieux-Montreal receiver Joel Soucy hopes to live the ultimate gridiron dream at the college level.

Joelā€™s football career began when he suited up Vikings of Laval-Nord. Ā During his nine year career with the Vikings, he won several team Offensive MVP and team Defensive MVP Awards. His passion for football continued as during his three year high school career with CurĆ©-Antoine-Labelle Loups (Wolves). Currently, Joel is playing for CEGEP Division 1 team, Vieux-Montreal Spartiates.

One of his ultimate goals is to make a NCAA football team. However, he has a backup up goal if it should not work out.

ā€œI wanna live the life of a NCAA football players,” says Joel. Ā “But if I don’t make it, CIS is still a good option.”

For Joel, one of the most memorable moments in his football career was playing for Team Quebec in the 2013 Football Canada Cup.

ā€œMy most memorable football experience is, definitely the 2013 Football Canada Cup where we won the tournament versus Alberta,” says Joel. Ā “That is where I made a touchdown in this game.”

“We were all happy to be National Champions.ā€

Joel’s parents and coach have made a major impact and influenced him in the way he plays football. He gives credit to his Team Quebec Coach, Charles-Antoine Sinotte for making him into the player he is today. Joel under Sinotte’s wing for the past two years and he learned a lot in the game from his coach.

During the off-season, he continues to work out at least five times a week. On top of working out, he participates in track and field three times a week with Perfmax with Ā his track coach Marc-Ɖlie Toussain.

Joel still has at least three years to go until he attends university; therefore, giving him plenty of time to weigh his options.
