Arland Bruce, Aaron Hunt, Noel Prefontaine and Chris Getzlaf were named the Gibson’s Finest CFL Players of the Week for the eighth week of the 2011 season.
The four players were chosen by a panel of judges including: former Canadian Football League players Matt Dunigan (@MattDuniganTSN) and Duane Forde (@DuaneFordeTSN), now of TSN, and Pierre Vercheval of RDS.

BC Lions wide receiver Arland Bruce is Gibson’s Finest CFL Offensive Player of the Week. In his second start with the Lions, Bruce caught nine passes for 129 yards and scored his first two touchdowns of the season, helping the Lions defeat the Eskimos 36-1. His first touchdown, a 17-yard pass from Travis Lulay (@TravisLulay ), came early in the second quarter, and his second score, a 10-yarder, came in the third. In the fourth quarter, Bruce caught his longest reception of the game, a 21-yard pass from Jarious Jackson.

BC Lions defensive tackle Aaron Hunt was named Gibson’s Finest CFL Defensive Player of the Week. Hunt led a Lions defence that held the Eskimos to just one single point. The former CFL Most Outstanding Rookie of the Year had five tackles and three quarterback sacks for a total loss of 13 yards. Hunt’s efforts helped lead the Lions to their second win of the season.

Toronto Argonauts punter and kicker Noel Prefontaine was named Gibson’s Finest CFL Special Teams Player of the Week in the Argos’ 24-18 victory over the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Prefontaine had his strongest performance of 2011, connecting on all three field goal attempts, including his longest of the season from 47 yards. Prefontaine also registered seven punts for 340 yards, with an average of 48.6, and one single. His longest punt was 55 yards.

Saskatchewan Roughriders 18 @ Toronto Argonauts 24
Saskatchewan Roughriders slot back Chris Getzlaf was chosen as Gibson’s Finest CFL Canadian Player of the Week. Getzlaf had his strongest showing of the season in Thursday night’s match up against the Argos. The Regina native registered four receptions for 123 yards, including a 70-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.
