Gibson’s Finest 2013 CFL Players of the Week (14): Kackert, Bighill, Guy & Arthur

TORONTO – Chad Kackert, Adam Bighill, Trent Guy and Jabari Arthur were named the Gibson’s Finest Players of the Week for Week 14 of the 2013 Canadian Football League season.

The four players were chosen by a panel of judges including: former Canadian Football League players Matt Dunigan and Duane Forde of TSN, and Pierre Vercheval of RDS.

Chad Kackert
RB – Toronto Argonauts
Toronto Argonauts 34 @ Edmonton Eskimos 22

Toronto Argonauts running back Chad Kackert was named the Offensive Player of the Week for Week 14. Kackert had 13 carries for a season-high 155 yards including a 49 and a 5-yard touchdown run to help the Argonauts comeback and defeat the Eskimos, 34-22.

Kackert, a University of New Hampshire product, also had a reception for 12 yards to help the Argos become the first CFL club to ever win four games in a row and have them all been away from home.

Kackert leads the Argonauts with 358 rushing yards and has 16 receptions for 129 yards on the season. He has a total of four touchdowns (3 rushing and 1 receiving).

Adam Bighill
LB – BC Lions
BC Lions 53 @ Winnipeg Blue Bombers 17

BC Lions linebacker Adam Bighill was named the Defensive Player of the Week for Week 14. Bighill recorded 10 tackles, one sack, forced two fumbles, and return a fumble for a touchdown in the Lions big win over the Blue Bombers, 53-17.

Bighill was recovered a Will Ford fumble on the first offensive play in the game, and ran 30 yards untouched for the touchdown to give the Lions an early lead.

The Central Washington University standout is fifth in the league in tackles with 67 and is tied for second on the Lions with five sacks on the season.

This is Bighill’s second Gibson’s Finest CFL Defensive Player of the Week award this season, with his first coming in Week 12.

Trent Guy

Toronto Argonauts kick returner Trent Guy was named the Special Teams Player of the Week for Week 14. Guy returned four kicks for 131 yards (32.8 average) including a 65-yard return late in the first quarter to set up Toronto in Edmonton territory, as the Argonauts went on to defeat Edmonton 34-22.

Guy, a University of Louisville standout, holds school records for most kick-return yards in a season (914) and is tied with the longest kick-return (100-yards).

With the Argos this season, Guy has six returns for 173 yards (28.8 average) and has a reception for ten yards this season.

Jabari Arthur
SB – Calgary Stampeders
Calgary Stampeders 35 @ Hamilton Tiger-Cats 11

Calgary Stampeders slotback Jabari Arthur was named the Canadian Player of the Week for Week 14. Arthur caught six receptions for a game-high 103 yards and caught two touchdowns in the Stampeders’ 35-11 win over the Tiger-Cats.

Arthur, the all-time receptions and yards gained leader at University of Akron, had 52 and 35 yard touchdown receptions from Kevin Glenn.

On the season, the Montreal, QC native has 34 receptions for 445 yards and has three touchdowns on the season.
