The four players were chosen by a panel of judges that includes former Canadian Football League players Matt Dunigan and Duane Forde, now of TSN, and Pierre Vercheval of RDS.

Chad Owens

Toronto Argonauts slotback Chad Owens was named the Offensive Player of the Week for Week 10. Owens registered a game high 176 yards and one touchdown on 11 receptions in the Argonauts’ 33-30 win over the rival Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Owens also became part of CFL history on Labour Day as he compiled 402 all-purpose yards. Only two other men have topped that mark in the CFL; Albert Johnson III with 474 yards on July 2, 2000 and Larry Taylor with 441 yards this season on July 10th.
Owens’ historical Labour Day performance helped him earn his fist 2012 Player of the Week award in a thrilling battle of Ontario at Ivor Wynne Stadium.

Ahmad Carroll

Toronto Argonauts 33 @ Hamilton Tiger-Cats 30
Toronto Argonauts defensive back Ahmad Carroll was named the Defensive Player of the Week for Week 10. Carroll registered one tackle and one interception which he returned for a touchdown in the Argonauts’ 33-30 win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Carroll intercepted Henry Burris’ pass and returned it 37 yards for a touchdown with 7:55 remaining in the fourth quarter. Carroll’s touchdown was a key piece in Toronto’s 22 point fourth quarter comeback.
Carroll’s solid day was good enough to earn him his first 2012 Player of the Week award.

Chris Williams

Hamilton Tiger-Cats kick returner Chris Williams was named the Special Teams Player of the Week for Week 10. Williams ran for 158 yards and one touchdown on five punt returns and 16 yards on one missed field goal return on Labour Day at Ivor Wynne Stadium. This is Williams’ third straight 2012 Special Teams Player of the Week award.
With the touchdown, Williams made CFL history as he became the only man to return six kick returns for a touchdown in a single season. Williams has accomplished this impressive feat at just the half-way mark of the season.

Jon Cornish
RB – Calgary Stampeders
Edmonton Eskimos 30 @ Calgary Stampeders 31
Calgary Stampeders running back Jon Cornish was named the Canadian Player of the Week for Week 10. The New Westminster, B.C native compiled 71 yards on 13 carries and 23 yards and one touchdown on four receptions in the Stamperders’ 31-30 win over the Edmonton Eskimos. Cornish was a reliable force in Calgary’s see-saw victory, earning his second-straight Canadian Player of the Week award in the process.
