Canadian Football League Week #6
TORONTO – Brandon Whitaker, Adam Bighill, Sean Whyte and James Yurichuk were named the Gibson’s Finest CFL Players of the Week for Week Six, the Canadian Football League announced today.
The four players were chosen by a panel of judges that includes former Canadian Football League players Matt Dunigan and Duane Forde, now of TSN and Pierre Vercheval of RDS.

Montreal Alouettes running back Brandon Whitaker was named the Offensive Player of the Week for Week Six. Whitaker posted a season-high 115 yards on 18 carries and 64 yards on six receptions for a 179-yard performance in the Als’ third win of the season.
Whitaker’s big night was highlighted by a dominant first half, in which he registered 86 yards on 11 carries, as well as 36 yards on five receptions, leading the Als to a 15-3 halftime lead.

BC Lions 18 @ Toronto Argonauts 9
BC Lions linebacker Adam Bighill was named the Defensive Player of the Week for Week Six. In addition to registering a game high seven tackles, Bighill also had one sack and one interception in the Lions’ 18-9 win over the Toronto Argonauts. Bighill was a force in a defensive battle at Rogers Centre on Monday evening, earning his second Defensive Player of the Week award of the 2012 season, while helping the Lions earn sole possession of first place in the West Division in the process.

Montreal Alouettes 36 @ Winnipeg Blue Bombers 26
Montreal Alouettes kicker/punter Sean Whyte was named the Special Teams Player of the Week for Week Six. Whyte was impressive all night as he went a perfect four-for-four on field goal attempts and added three extra points as well, contributing 18 total points. Whyte also accounted for eight of Montreal’s 15 first half points in their 36-26 road win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Friday night.

James Yurichuk

BC Lions 18 @ Toronto Argonauts 9
BC Lions linebacker James Yurichuk was named the top Canadian Player of the Week for Week Six. The Brampton, Ontario native registered five tackles and one interception in BC’s 18-9 win over the Toronto Argonauts. Yurichuk intercepted Toronto QB Ricky Ray’s pass at 13:16 of the first quarter, helping the Lions set the tone for the remainder of the game.
