Going away experience

Alexandre Lacroix Moreau

CEGEP defensive back becomes newest recruit to join RSEQ team’s 2014 class.

Alexandre Lacroix-Moreau wanted to live an experience.

For the 6’0, 185 pound defensive back (halfback/safety) from Dorval, Quebec, he will get the opportunity with the Bishop’s Gaiters.  Lacroix-Moreau recently signed with the team for the 2014 RSEQ season.

“I wanted to try the whole “going away for school” experience and Lennoxville is far enough from home for me to be able to live that, but at the same time close enough for me to make the trip back home often,” explained Lacroix-Moreau. “I was also familiar with the region since I have family that lives in the Eastern Townships.”

Furthermore, the Quebec defensive standout chose the Lennoxville campus due to academic and gridiron reasons.

“Academically, I believe it is a great fit for me,” stated Lacroix-Moreau.  “The fact that teachers are easily accessible and classes are small was appealing to me and I thought it would be a great learning environment.”

“Football wise, my coach Patrick Gregory mentored me through the process and only had good things to say about his personal experience at Bishop’s and about the current football program.  After speaking with the coaches there and getting to know more about their philosophy and the way the run things I knew it was where I wanted to go.  Coach (Kevin) Mackey has done impressive things with his team in the past seasons and I am looking forward to help the team in any way possible.”

Lacroix-Moreau comes to the Gaiters after completing a stint with CEGEP Division 2 team, John Abbott College Islanders Due to a back injury; limiting him four games this past season.  In those four games, he registered 14 tackles, caught an interception and scored a touchdown.
