Golden Bears commit says he love the coaches

Golden Bears add Alberta commit to their Class of 2018.

It is an understatement to say that Jonathan Ericson, a quarterback from Lacombe Composite High School, is excited for the prospect of furthering his game under the University of Alberta Golden Bears coaches.

When Ericson represented his province this summer, he had a firsthand look at how the Golden Bears’ coaches operate. “I loved their coaching styles and the way they broke down the game for me,” Ericson, who was on Team Alberta U18, said. “(They) presented (it) to me in a way I could both learn and do well in. I’m excited for the future.”

Ericson added that he chose the University of Alberta because “it felt like the best fit for me as a football player and for my family.” He plans on taking agriculture and environmental sciences.

Standing at 6’3, 175lbs, Ericson has suited up for the Lacombe Composite Rams (Central Region Central Alberta Schools Athletic Association) and the Central Alberta Prairie Fire (Calgary Area Midget Football Association). The product of Lacombe, Alberta, was the team and league rookie of the year in 2015. The following season, he was team MVP. This season, he was awarded the Calgary Midget Football Scholarship. He was also Team Alberta’s team MVP and offensive player of the game.

Despite his accolades, Ericson knows he still has a long journey ahead of him. He said, “I believe as I develop, I will be able to make an impact on the team.”

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
