Golden Bears commit staying near support network

Golden Bears welcome local commit to their 2019 class.

Roman Iwuc, a defensive back from Harry Ainlay High School, is staying right where he is after signing with the University of Alberta Golden Bears.

“It made the most sense, especially academically and financially,” said Iwuc, who is from Edmonton, Alberta. “It is also a plus knowing that the people who support me, including some of my closest friends, will still be important in my life.”

With his old friends still in his heart, Iwuc will be adding some new names to his support network. “The coaching staff is genuine and makes it clear that they are there to not only help you as an athlete but as a student and person as well,” he said.

Standing at 6’4, 190lbs, Iwuc is in his third year with the Harry Ainlay Titans (MEHSL). He also spent one season with the Millwoods Grizzlies (CDMFA). In 2017, he helped the Titans win a city and provincial championship.

“My goal for this year is to win another city and provincial championship,” Iwuc said. “I know my teammates and I are willing to do anything to achieve that.”

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
