Golden Bears welcome two local commits to their 2019 class.
Defensive back Skyler Saar and offensive lineman Tommy Walters from Salisbury Composite High School will be continuing on as teammates on the University of Alberta Golden Bears.
Skyler Saar
Skyler Saar is staying right where he wants to be, in his hometown of Sherwood Park, Alberta. “I get to stay home and play with a team I grew up around,” he said of his commitment to the Golden Bears. “They have a very strong learning program to help their student athletes there.”
Saar also felt comfortable around the team’s coaching staff. “The whole coaching staff is very easy to talk to and are very straight-up and personal with how they talk to you,” he said.
Saar was been playing football for six years now. He joined the Sherwood Park Raiders (CDMFA) in 2013 before becoming a Ram (CDMFA) in 2014. In 2016, he joined his high school team, the Salisbury Sabres (MEHSL). The 6’1, 170lbs athlete is interested in taking business.
Tommy Walters
Tommy Walters is also a member of the Salisbury Sabres in Sherwood Park, Alberta. Cam Fraser, the team’s head coach, told the Sherwood Park News that Walters is an “outstanding kid” who is an even better person. “I couldn’t be any happier than I am for him. He is just a solid, solid human being,” he added.
Walters is 6’0, 225lbs and has played as a centre, defensive tackle, guard and tackle. He was also a member of the Rams.
Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
