Golden Bears land fourth Titans recruit

Edmonton lineman joins CWUAA team’s 2015 class.

When one team was particularly interested in Anthony Hume, he was flattered by the attention.

As a result, the 5’10, 270 pound offensive/defensive lineman from Edmonton recently committed to the University of Alberta Golden Bears.  Hume will join the team for the 2015 CWUAA season.

Other factors in his decision to choose the Golden Bears included location, strength of academic programs and the positive direction the football program is heading towards in the future.

“I committed to the University of Alberta for a few reasons because I truly believe that they are on the up and rising and that I may be able to help with that,” commented Hume on his commitment.  “But also because of what felt like their focus being on myself and my interests.”

“Obviously, the proximity and the academics of the school also played a role, but the University of Alberta pursued me not the other way around and I appreciated it. I also know Coach [Chris] Morris from when he coached me during my first year at Harry Ainlay and through various camps I have attended.  Although we were on the same field, I was not often under his tutelage so I look forward to that.”

Anthony Hume

Hume is currently completing his senior season with Harry Ainlay Titans of the Alberta Schools Athletic Association (ASAA). In addition to the Titans, the lineman has previously suited up for the Millwood Grizzlies and has participated in Summer Games Zone Six (2012).

The defensive back becomes the fourth Titans player to sign with the Golden Bears as CFC 100 linebacker Brett Van der Korput as well as defensive linemen Dexter Da Silva and Tammo Fouad all committed to the CWUAA school recently.
