Golden Bears potential makes local recruit “salivate”

Grande Prairie two-way player joins CWUAA team’s 2016 class.

Taylor Rempel liked what he saw with what he saw with one CIS team.

As a result, the 5ā€™8, 175 pound running back/defensive back (strong safety) from Grande Prairie, Alberta has signed with the University of Alberta Golden Bears.Ā  Rempel will join the team for the 2016 CWUAA season.

ā€œI chose Alberta over any other school, because of their commitment to education,ā€ explained Rempel of his decision.Ā  ā€œCoach [Chris] Morris had built that program to not just benefit the players on the field but also after.ā€

ā€œThe coaching staff is incredible and the team is built on integrity.Ā  I could see that right from the first time I visited the university. They were also one of the few universities that truly took in an interest in me not just on the football field. One the pivotal parts of the Golden Bears for me, was their offence of line. I feel by next year that they will field one of the country’s premier offensive lines and as a running back it makes you salivate.ā€

This fall, Rempel is completing his final season with St. Josephā€™s Celtics of the Alberta School Athletic Association (ASAA).
