KINGSTON – Queen’s football head coach Pat Sheahan is pleased to announce the signing of top recruit Brendan Coffey (Montreal) to the Gaels football program.
“This is the end of a long journey in the recruitment. Brendan is a competitive guy, an outstanding athlete and football player,” said head coach Pat Sheahan on his newest recruit. “He happens to be coming into the program at a time when we are graduating some outstanding defensive players so his timing is impeccable.”
Linebacker Coffey was in Kingston on Friday and had this to say about making his commitment to play for Queen’s.
“Today is the accumulation of the hard work of a lot of people who invested a lot of time and energy in me. I obviously couldn’t be here today without my parents I’d be remiss not to thank my mom and dad for helping me through thick and thin. I’ve learned so much from my teammates and now I’m ready to take the next step with those people behind me (for support). I’m excited to join one of the biggest and storied programs in Canada in Queen’s football.”
See below for a detailed look at what Coffey has accomplished in his career thus far.
The Queen’s football Gaels begin their regular season on the road when they take on the Windsor Lancers on Monday September 1st. The Gaels then open up their home schedule on Saturday September 6th against the Ottawa Gee-Gees at 1:00 p.m. at Richardson Stadium.
