The Guelph Gryphons football team is pleased to announce the commitment of offensive lineman Vladimir Vesovic from Hamilton, Ontario for the upcoming 2011 season.
The Gryphons have filled a big hole with the commitment of this 6β6β and 304 pound lineman who already displays the physical attributes to play at the CIS level.
βWe are extremely excited that Vlad chose to attend the University of Guelph,β said University of Guelph head football coach Stu Lang. βOur goal since I became head coach has been to improve our offensive line in both talent and size. Vlad fits these goals perfectly.β
Vesovic has spent the last four seasonβs with the Ontario Varsity Football Leagueβs Hamilton Ironmen. He played one season of peewee, two years with the junior varsity and this past season with the varsity Ironmen. Vesovic was also a member of his St. Maryβs high school team for three years.
βVladimir has excellent footwork for his size. He is low in his stance with excellent reach. He blocks well and gets to the second level effectively. With advanced coaching we expect Vladimir to make an immediate impact adding depth to our offensive line.β
Vesovic will be studying Human Kinetics at the University and is excited to join the team.
βI was drawn to the campus first for the Human Kinetics program and secondly the atmosphere of the university. When touring around the campus I could really see myself spending the next four years studying at Guelph. Lastly the football program is simply the best, the coaches are very helpful and are always willing to push to make their players better,β said Vesovic.
The Gryphons are set to open training camp on August 22 and will host an exhibition game against the Concordia Stingers on August 27th at Alumni Stadium. Tickets are on sale now at gryphons.ca for the season.
