Gryphons announce 2019 recruiting class

GUELPH, Ont. – On Sunday, May 26 the Gryphon football program officially announced their 2019 recruiting class with a total of 29 new athletes set to make their University of Guelph debuts in August. The annual “Meet the Team” luncheon was held at Cutten Fields golf course with players, coaches and family members in attendance.

“We have some excellent additions, on both sides of the line of scrimmage,” said Gryphons head coach Ryan Sheahan. “A huge amount of credit needs to go to our coaching staff who helped us navigate this transition. We feel as though we have a nice combination of some eager and able young players coming in. Defensive lineman Josh Campbell was the CEGEP Lineman of the Year, Harrison Bagayogo is a talented, physical defensive back from Champlain-Lennoxville and we also have a pair of incoming rookies (receiver Spencer Kennedy and linebacker Kristian Steward) from the No. 1-ranked high school football program in Canada (St. Thomas More – Hamilton). So we’re excited to get going and have these young men join our program.”

The 29 new Gryphon football recruits will report to training camp on Thursday, August 15 with the Gryphons officially kicking off their 2019 regular season on Sunday, August 25 with a home game versus the McMaster Marauders.
