Guelph Gryphons announce new offensive coordinator


GUELPH, Ont. –
The University of Guelph Gryphons are pleased to announce that Todd Galloway has been hired as the football team’s new offensive coordinator.

β€œWe are proud to welcome Todd to the University of Guelph,” said Director of Athletics, Tom Kendall. β€œHe brings a wealth of knowledge and skill in developing young athletes and was the right person to meet the expectations of the program.”

Galloway has over a decade of diverse coaching experience at various levels including the CIS, high school and varsity leagues. He’s spent the last five years coaching in Nova Scotia with the St. Mary’s Huskies, Sackville High School and the Metro Mustangs of the Nova Scotia Varsity Football League (NSVFL).

β€œTodd is a really good fit for what we need,” said Guelph head coach Stu Lang. β€œHe’s proven to be a successful coach at a high level. He’s an experienced, intelligent coach who will be able to come in and help us pick up where we left off. We’re excited to have him join our staff.”

In 2007 Galloway joined the coaching staff at St. Mary’s University as the defensive backs coach and assistant defensive coach. This past season he was named the assistant offensive and receivers coach for the Huskies. While in Halifax he also coached the Metro Mustangs of the NSVFL to four provincial titles. In 2010 he was named head coach/offensive coordinator of the Nova Scotia Under-17 provincial team, and this year, is the offensive coordinator of the U-18 provincial team representing Nova Scotia in the Canada Cup.

Galloway coached at his alma mater, Wilfrid Laurier University, for three seasons after graduating (2004-2006), serving as the receivers coach and assistant offensive coach. He was a member of the coaching staff during the Golden Hawks Vanier Cup title in 2005. During that time he also served as the offensive coordinator in the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL) for the Guelph Bears in 2006.

He is a native of Kitchener, Ont., and played wide receiver at Laurier (2000-2004) while earning a Bachelors degree in Biology. He earned a master’s degree at McMaster University in Medical Sciences.

The Gryphons are scheduled to open their 2011 regular season on September 5th against the Ottawa Gee Gees at Alumni Stadium.
