Guillaume Bourassa joins Stingers football coaching staff

Head coach Brad Collinson is pleased to announce Guillaume Bourassa has joined the Concordia Stingers football program and will serve as an offensive assistant and running backs coach.

Bourassa was a star running back with the Laval Rouge et Or for five seasons, including the Vanier Cup championship campaigns in 2010, 2012 and 2013.

“Guillaume has a great pedigree,” said Collinson. “He comes from a winning culture. I coached him for four years at Laval. He’s a leader, a great team player and he always goes above and beyond.”

The native of La Tuque, Que., was a two-time all-star with the Champlain Cougars in the Cégep ranks before joining the Rouge et Or in 2010. He also represented Quebec and Canada in national and international competitions.

Bourassa was selected by the B.C. Lions in the seventh round of the 2014 CFL draft.

His coaching experience includes serving as a player and offensive co-ordinator with les Iron Mask de Cannes in France in 2016. He has also coached at Polyvalente Deux-Montagnes and with Cégep Garneau.

Despite having a few career options, Bourassa remains committed to university football and is eager to immerse himself again.

“I was working as an appraiser and it wasn’t for me,” Bourassa explained. “I still have my passion for football and I want to give back. I want to show these guys how it works to win. It takes a lot of sacrifice to win a championship.

“I’ve known Brad for a long time and I want to learn from him,” he added. “Concordia is a good program. I know we can do some good things here.”
