SDSSAA: Kirkey, Friesen score two majors each as Hawks shutout Warriors in season opener
At James Jerome Complex this past Thursday, the Lively Hawks opened their 2013 Sudbury District Secondary School Athletic Association (SDSSAA) season by holding the LaSalle Warriors off the scoreboard with a 41-0 win.
Running backs Austin Kirkey and Scott Friesen each scored two touchdowns to lead the Hawks.Ā Kirkey scored on a 75 yard run and a 39 yard catch.Ā Friesen scores came on 5 and 18 yard runs.Ā Additionally, linebacker Andrew Andretta (98 yard fumble recovery) and Jesse Brear (3 yard) each tallied a major in the victory.
At halftime, the Hawks enjoyed a 25-0 lead over the Warriors and were hardly challenged for the remainder of the game.
When the game was out of reach, the Hawks relieved quarterback Hunter Holub and Cody Bishop played the remainder of the game.
