Brotherly reunion

Pennsylvania lineman becomes newest recruit for AUS Conference Champions’ 2014 class.

It will be a family affair of sorts for the AUS conference champions as a Pennsylvania standout will be moving north of the border to pursue the next chapter of his gridiron career.

This past weekend, Seamus Hickey committed to the Mount Allison Mounties for the 2014 AUS season.  The 6’4, 305 pound offensive lineman from Pennsylvania, recently completed his high school career with Bethlehem Catholic Golden Hawks that competed in the LeHigh Valley Conference.

By virtue of his signing, he will join forces with his brother at the Sackville, New Brunswick campus.  His brother Liam recently completed his second season with the Mounties at the defensive lineman position.

Mounties Head Coach Kelly Jeffrey is thrilled to have another Hickey join the fold and is looking forward to the impact he will have on the team in future years.

“Seamus has great size and played all of his teams’ offensive line positions except for center so he has great versatility,” commented Jeffrey.  “Seamus was a big part of his high school’s resurrection this year as he helped lead his team to the playoffs. “

“He is an outstanding student as well and will fit in with our team environment well.  Seamus joins his brother Liam who plays defensive line for us.  Seamus’ size and ability to play different spots on the offensive line gives him a great opportunity to contribute at several positions.”
