Receiver Chris Millward has played his entire minor career with NCAFA’s Cornwall Wildcats. Chris’s career has earned him awards at every level as he progressed through the levels of minor football.

In his very first season of football, Chris was named Rookie of the Year before being named Mosquito Offensive and Team MVP, Peewee Offensive and Special Teams MVP, Bantam Offensive and Team MVP.

With all the success he has enjoyed throughout his career, Chris’ most memorable experience on the gridiron is not a glamorous one. In his first year of OVFL play as an underage player, Chris was sent over the middle in a game against the Toronto Thunder. After a late and misplaced ball, Chris was put in a vulnerable spot – after being knocked off balance by the defensive back, Chris was cleaned up by the Thunder’s defensive tackle.

That was probably the meanest player I’ve ever seen,” recalls Chris of the experience.

Chris was left without his helmet and without a little pride as he was laid out in front of his home town fans.

“You don’t forget a hit like that,” says Chris.

Chris acknowledges the role his mother has had in his development both as an athlete and student as his most influential.

“She’s always nagging me to hit the books, and get to the gym when I’m lacking the motivation,” says Chris.

Chris’ favorite professional player is fellow receiver Andre Johnson from the NFL’s Houston Texans. Chris admires the physical edge that Johnson brings to the game.

“Not only is he a deep threat in the air, but you can hit him on a short route and he isn’t afraid to lay the boom,” says Chris of his idol.

Chris has expressed an interest in remaining locally for the next stage of his gridiron career but has not ruled out travelling if the right fit is available.
