Home away from home

CFC TOP 100 defensive back becomes next recruit for OUA team’s 2014 class.

There’s no place like home.

A CFC TOP 100 defensive back felt this way with an OUA team.  Consequently, Trevelle Wisdom committed to the Carleton Ravens this past Wednesday.

“The reason why chose Carleton because it had a home like feeling,” explained the Ontario defensive back of his decision.  “The coaches were very welcoming; I like the campus and the sports department.”

“Also it works out well with the programs I want to take.”

The 6’0, 210 pound native of Toronto, Ontario joins the Ravens after enjoying tremendous success on the local, provincial and national stages.  This past July, Wisdom represented his home province as a member of Team Ontario at the 2013 Football Canada Cup in Moncton, New Brunswick. The defensive back helped the team bring home a bronze medal from the tournament.  For his exceptional play, Wisdom was named Team Ontario’s Defensive Player of the Game against Team Manitoba and was selected as a tournament All-Star (this grants an automatic invite for Team Canada’s under 18 national team to compete against Team USA in Dallas, Texas in February 2014).

Currently, Wisdom is currently playing football for his high school team, Downsview Mustangs of the Toronto District Secondary School Athletic Association (TDSSAA). Moreover, he suited up for Metro Toronto Wildcats of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL).

The Ontario defensive back hopes to make a major contribution with his new CIS team for many years to come.

“I’m looking forward to going to Carleton because of what they are building there and I really want to be a part of the growth,” added Wisdom.

Ravens Head Coach Steve Sumarah is thrilled to have landed a player of Wisdom’s calibre to the team and has great expectations for him.

“Trevelle was the top linebacker at the Football Canada Cup this summer and with his physicality, we felt he was a perfect fit for our program,” commented Sumarah.  “He is going to be an impact player for us right out of the gate.”
