Montreal linebacker signs with RSEQ team.
Devantie Campbell is returning back home to commence his CIS career.
This past Thursday, the 5ā11, 222 pound linebacker from Montreal, Quebec officially committed to the Concordia Stingers.Ā Campbell will join the team for the 2015 RSEQ season.
Recently, the defensive standout completed a stint with Canada Prep Academy.Ā Prior to that, Campbell played high school football for Buffalo, New York team St. Francis Raiders. He also previously suited up for LaSalle Warriors.
Campbell issued the following statement regarding his commitment to the Stingers:
āWhen I was 15 I left Montreal to go play football in Buffalo, New York at St Francis High School.ā
āAfter I completed my junior and senior year, I decided to attend the prep school Canada Prep Football Academy in St Catharines Ontario, instead of going straight to university because I was only 17.ā
āAfter this past year, I always had the thought of going back to my hometown and play in front of the crowd I grew up playing against since the age of five. After the season, I weighed my options between a few schools in America, across Canada and Concordia.ā
āAfter speaking to my mother about my options and hearing her thoughts on it, right there and then I knew she wanted me to stay close to home but was still going to support me on whatever decision I made.ā
āI took a few visits places and when I took my visit at Concordia, the coaching staff and players on the team just had such a tight bond that I couldn’t deny the offer to be a part of that Stinger Family.ā
āAfter I took all my visits and sat down with my family and my friends, I called up Coach [Mickey] Donovan and told him I want to come home and be a Stinger.ā
