Hometown pride

Edmonton standout among newest recruits to join CWUAA team’s 2o14 class

For Vuyani Ndhlovu, playing at home in front of friends and family was too good of an offer to pass up.

Moreover, the opportunity to be part of a program with tremendous opportunity for growth was very appealing to him.

As a result, the 5’11, 189 pound receiver/kicker from Edmonton, Alberta is one of the newest recruits to join the University of Alberta Golden Bears for the 2014 CWUAA season.

“I chose the University of Alberta because of how I liked how the program was being built and the potential the program has,” explained Ndhlovu of his decision.  “I have a strong relationship with the coaching staff, playing at home where I have my friends and family.”

“Just being able to play the sport, and play for my hometown is an honour. I also played Team Alberta and Head Coach (Chris) Morris which got me exposure. I hope to move on to the next level after my time at University of Alberta. I take pride on being a team player and making the most of every opportunity and play for the Golden Bears is an honour and an opportunity I plan to take advantage of in the future.”

Ndhlovu comes to the Golden Bears after completing his high school career with Harry Ainlay Titans of Alberta Schools Athletic Association (ASAA). This past summer, he helped Team Alberta to a silver medal finish at the 2013 Football Canada Cup tournament in Moncton, New Brunswick.
