The Hamilton Hurricanes claimed the “Teddy Morris Memorial Trophy” with a 21-17 come from behind victory over the Ottawa Sooners in the OFC championship game.

Ryan Rowe led the Canes on the ground with 113 yards on 14 carries. His lone pass reception was a 4 yarder for a touchdown. Joshua Pratt hauled in 4 passes for 27 yards and another TD.

Ottawa’s leading rusher was Ashton Dickson with 29 carries for 147 yards.

The game’s leading defender was three time OFC Defensive Player of the Year Aram Eisho with 25 defensive points.

Hamilton was last OFC champions in 1993 and were lead by current Head Coach Jason Hayes who was the Canadian Junior Football League’s Offensive Player of the Year. Hayes said, β€œthe football gods were definitely looking down on us tonight”. β€œThis win is for the guys who are still with us since 2008 when the Canes returned to the OFC”.

A very happy Hurricanes President Mike Samuel exclaimed, β€œI can’t believe what I just witnessed” while wiping away the tears of joy.

Hamilton now travels to Nanaimo BC to face the defending Canadian Bowl champions the Vancouver Island Raiders at Caledonia Park Saturday October 30th at 1:00 pm.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
