Huskies staff overhaul

Offensive coordinator Brent Schneider, who has been a Huskies coach for the last 17 years, resigned from his position with the Saskatchewan Huskies. Schneider, who is a full time teacher, said he needed to dedicate more time to his family.  Schneider played from 1992 to 1996 and is still the school’s all-time leading passer.

Also leaving the program is offensive assistant and recruiting coordinator Jason Sulz, who has been on the staff since 2003 and was a player from 1998 to 2001.  Sulz’s wife was offered a faculty job at the University of Alberta and the family will be leaving for Edmonton soon.  Both Sulz and Schneider are working with the team through a ‘transition’ period in the next month or so.

Earlier in the off-season offensive line coach Bart Arnold took a one-year leave to spend more time with his family.

The unexpected departures leave the Huskies scrambling to fill holes on their coaching staff with the season only three months away.  The plan is now for head coach Brian Towriss to assume the offensive coordinator responsibilities and assistant Mike Harrington will take on an expanded role with the team.  The Huskies hope to announce a new quarterback coach this week.
