Coach Philip played football at York University and graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Law and Society. In 1983, he was drafted in the 5[SUP]th[/SUP] round and went on to play DB in the CFL with the Edmonton Eskimos. In 2007, after registering his son to play football with the Burlington Minor Football Association (BMFA), he was convinced to try his hand at coaching and has been coaching ever since. Philip has held, DC and DB coaching positions at all levels from House League to Varsity, winning numerous Championships along the way.

In 2011, Coach Philip found time to coach not only at the varsity level but also with the Rising Stars All Stars, the CJFL’s Burlington Braves and at the high school level with Burlington’s Nelson Senior Lords. The Lords had a tremendous season, going undefeated, finishing as the top ranked high school team in Canada (CanadaFootballChat.com) and winning the Halton, GHAC and OFSSA Golden Horseshoe Bowl championships. Nelson’s defense dominated its competition and surrendered a measly 7.6 points per game. In 2012, Coach Philip will be coaching the Golden Horseshoe Region (GHR) DBs at the 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] annual GHR vs. GTA ALL STAR GAME and hopes to return to coach with the Braves and at Nelson…provided of course his wife lets him.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
